I am an advocate, collaborator, and program developer with a passion for leveraging change and meeting community needs.I work for Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC) focusing on the national Assistive Technology Program, long-term community-based care, and promoting inclusion with non-profit community organizations throughout the state. I supervise staff, oversee grants to local partners, write grants, and fund raise. While at MDRC, I also worked at the Michigan Department of Community Health on long-term care reform. This involved collaboration with community organizations; development and management of projects; excellence in written and verbal communication; and the ability to juggle multiple assignments at the same time.Just prior to coming to MDRC, I worked at Disability Network/Lakeshore. There I advocated for long-term care reform and coordinate a national award winning program to increase voter accessibility. I developed and directed a leadership summit, acted as fundraiser, grant writer, legislative liason and media relations. I have also served “at risk” youth. I interned as a career counselor and school social worker, and acted as a mentor/teacher for Upward Bound. I counseled students with disabilities and developed curriculums on social skills, study skills, anger management and life skills. I completed research to track the dropout rate of students with disabilities in a school system and presented my findings and recommendations for remedies to the assistant superintendent and her staff.Specialties: program development, leadership development, social justice, systems change, grant management, grant writing, group facilitation and training, systems advocacy, community relations, individual advocacy, managementClifton Strengths: Activator, Maximizer, Learner, Relator, Connectedness
