•Transform 14 of California’s conservative juvenile probation departments by creating and delivering trainings to approximately 500 probation officers to implement the state’s first data collection system that allows detained youth to safely share their sexual orientation and gender identity. •Guide juvenile probation departments’ development of LGBT anti-discrimination policies and trainings resulting in system-wide culture changes.•Empower grassroots and community-based organizations serving system-impacted, multicultural communities nationwide through mixed methodology evaluations of various scales. •Manage statewide research study on the overrepresentation of LGBT youth of color in California’s juvenile detention facilities•Serve as LGBT and race expert for 12 probation departments. Provided ongoing coaching and technical assistance on the treatment of LGBT youth of color in detention facilities.

•Cultivated relationships with 44 California probation departments and obtained buy-in to conduct unprecedented statewide research to determine the overrepresentation of LGBT youth of color in the state’s juvenile justice system. •Oversaw project implementation from inception to completion. Wrote proposals for grants totaling over $300,000 to conduct research that informed best practices to improve outcomes for youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems; developed budgets, monitored project timelines and ensured benchmarks were met.•Served as investigator of groundbreaking national research study regarding youth in the juvenile justice system; conducted outreach with and interviewed 145 LGBT, straight and youth of color with varying degrees of contact with juvenile justice system in Alameda County, Santa Clara County, Orleans Parish and Cook County

•Managed daily operations of law firm; provided administrative support to partners, associates and co-counsel, and managed communications/ various projects for department while adhering to regulations of state and federal guidelines.•Conducted legal research on United States government hiring policies surrounding pre-appointment matters.•Interviewed potential clients regarding employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and whistleblower claims.•Wrote exhaustion letters on behalf of clients facing discriminatory practices to appropriate entities such as Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Labor and Workforce Development Agency. Filed complaints, motions and briefs in federal and state courts.

•Provided assistance to 12 paralegals and attorneys on various state habeas petitions involving indigent persons currently serving time on California’s death row; Assisted in client relations by providing reception coverage, serving as a liaison between attorneys and clients.•Prepared and conducted hospital sweeps to obtain medical records of clients and witnesses; organized filing system for all case teams. •Maintained constant and open communication with case teams regarding correspondence, case projects, dates and legal procedures.
