As a resident caseworker I support residents through the regeneration and on a number of other issues including extensive advocacy and welfare support.These benefits are not just new homes, schools, community facilities and a much improved park and open spaces, but the social and economic benefits of regeneration, such as employment, education and training, improvements in health and well being and a reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour.Creation supports local people to have real influence over the decisions that are being made about the area and the priorities of the Trust's work. We work closely with Southwark Council and other partners, such as the building developers and Housing Associations, to ensure that the plans for the re-development are in line with the principles of the Aylesbury Area Action Plan (AAAP). The AAAP is the planning document for the area and documents the requirements that local people have asked for when the estate is rebuilt. Creation is the successor organisation to the Aylesbury NDC. We are a Community Development Trust and we operate as a charity. We are funded through a number of different organisations, including Southwark Council, L&Q and ARK.The Aylesbury estate is changing, the regeneration of the area is expected to last 20 years. Over this time Creation will be working to ensure that new people are welcomed into the area, whilst supporting the existing community to feel part of the changes that will help shape a new neighbourhood. We will work closely with the new development partner for the estate and Southwark Council to ensure that local people continue to receive the social economic benefits of the regeneration. Show less

Our vision is for everyone to be able to watch, work or perform at any live music event: music without barriers.Mystery shopping underpins all our… Show more Attitude is Everything works in partnership with audiences, artists and the music industry to improve Deaf and disabled people’s access to live music. We encourage events producers to go beyond the legal obligations set out in the Equality Act and implement best practice, enhancing the live music experience for Deaf and disabled music fans. Our vision is for everyone to be able to watch, work or perform at any live music event: music without barriers.Mystery shopping underpins all our activity. The strongest advocates for change are Deaf/disabled people facing inequality and exclusion, so we have developed a mechanism through which they can voice their experiences and use them to effect improvements. Our Attitude is Everything - trained team of around 500 mystery shoppers (all Deaf/disabled music fans) attend UK gigs and report back on their accessibility and the overall experience. Their feedback influences our State of Access reports, which we use to advocate for nationwide change, and all of our advice and guidance for the music industry. In this role I am responsible for strategically developing the Mystery Shopping volunteer programme that underpins the charity’s work. I will enlist a greater variety of mystery shoppers, focusing on recruiting disabled volunteers from intersectional backgrounds; support the continuing professional development existing volunteers and supporting and training peer mentors. The aim is to highlight areas of good practice and progression, both in terms of those venues and festivals that have benefitted directly from our assistance, but also across the wider industry. At the same time, the report is an opportunity to reflect upon the barriers that Deaf and disabled people continue to face, and consider best practice solutions.I was responsible for the data analysis for the third State of Access Report, published in February 2016. The report revisits many topics highlighted in the previous two reports, with central themes being the importance of access information provision, the benefits of viewing access as an extension of customer service, and the need for facilities to be fit for purpose.As Attitude is Everything has tracked the state of access across live music events over multiple years, it has become clear that there is growing momentum when it comes to positive change in this field. There now exists a significant body of best practice within the industry that is closely related to the work and campaigns carried out by Attitude is Everything since 2000. However, Deaf and disabled people still face significant barriers at all stages of seeking to and actually attending live music events, as presented in this report.The findings and conclusions of the 2016 edition are based on 280 mystery shopping reports by Deaf and disabled people, bespoke research including a survey of 386 venue and festival websites, and a set of case-studies drawn from the hundreds of venues and festivals Attitude is Everything works with.
