Saint John Paul II said, “The future of the Church passes by way of the family.” Few things affect modern family life more than LGBTQ+ issues. Most people at least know someone who identifies as gay or transgendered. There is a lot of misinformation in today’s culture and even in the Church which causes unnecessary pain and suffering to many. The good news is that there is hope and clarity for everyone! When the Son Frees You is my story of healing and redemption through Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother. In this memoir, published by TAN Books, I tell my deeply personal story of my attraction to men from an early age. I talk about the life experiences that contributed to that orientation, the confusion and frustration he experienced as a result, my decision to not act on my attractions and my ensuing loneliness, isolation and his anger with God.I reject labels such as “gay” and “ex-gay,” write in a way that breaks out of the paradigms that the culture and media have set for this issue. Instead, my path involved a deep reconciliation with my Catholic faith that was facilitated through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. My journey led me to an inner healing and ultimately a happy marriage and the blessing of three children.
