Responsibilities and Duties-Review new business referrals to evaluate degree of risk involved; accept, modify or decline risks based on company’s underwriting policies-Review application for accuracy and completeness and contact agents for missing or incomplete information-Effectively communicate with other staff members to ensure proper issuance of policies-Review and interpret underwriting reports (MVRs, CLUE, Inspections, etc) to ensure the risk complies with all company underwriting standards-Review and approve referred policy changes, questionnaires, telephone interviews, claim reviews and motor vehicle reports-Review and understand internal company reports on production, profitability and claims-Properly analyze internal data to ensure growth and profitability within assigned territory, if applicable -Assist agents and insured in understanding various coverages offered by the company-Visit agents in their offices to maintain and enhance professional relationships, adherence and understanding of company underwriting standards-Maintain and establish good working relationship with agents and communicate underwriting decisions to agents and insured’s-Review policy renewal information to determine if properly priced based on exposure; determine if additional action is necessary-Responsible for managing a territory of independent agents (if applicable) to ensure that profitability and growth objectives for the company are being met-Provide feedback or suggestions on enhancing and developing existing products in order to improve the underwriting process and strengthen the product line up
