We also operate the Navy’s west coast Land Ranges (1.1M Acres) and Sea Range (up to 220,000 sq. mi.) in support of Joint, Coalition, and other foreign services.

As Commanding Officer, I am responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of 29 aircraft (11 different type/model/series) with a personnel mix of 400+ USN/USMC Officers, Enlisted, Civilians, and Contractors. VX-31 flies over 4000 hours annually, 70% of which directly supports RDT&E of NAVAIR programs. VX-31 tests and evaluates multiple developmental weapons and weapon systems used on various strike and assault platforms including F/A-18 A-F, EA-18G, AV-8B, AH-1W/Z, UH-1Y, and T-39D aircraft. The squadron also operates several MH-60S aircraft, which provide Search and Rescue capabilities for the California high desert.
Joint Standoff Weapon (Jsow) Chief Systems Engineer
I lead a multi-disciplinary team of 10 engineers and manage the NAVAIR Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process on all variants of the Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW). Two variants (JSOW A and A-1) are out of production and in the sustainment phase of their life cycle. JSOW C is in full rate production and JSOW C-1 is in the integration phase of development - both will primarily be used on the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet to support Strike missions requiring a weapon with Standoff Outside Point Defense (SOPD) and/or Network Enabled Weapon (NEW) Moving Maritime Target (MMT) capability.
Pma-265 F/A-18 & Ea-18G Radar Ipt Lead
As the Military Lead for the F/A-18A-F and EA-18G Radar Integrated Product Team (IPT), I managed and interfaced with our primary contractor (Boeing) and their subcontractor (Raytheon) to develop, procure, produce, and sustain 1000+ APG-65, APG-73, and APG-79 Radars in the fleet of U.S. Navy and Marine Corps F/A-18's. The cutting edge APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar is nearly $3M per copy and the overall procurement program has a life cycle cost over $1B.
F/A-18 Advanced Systems Test Pilot & Project Officer
I am the sole military Project Officer in the Advanced Systems Design Group at the F/A-18 and EA-18G Advanced Weapons Laboratory in China Lake, CA.
