As a Technical Writer supporting Cybersecurity and Technology Third Party Governance groups, I created numerous templates, control procedures, desktop procedures, user guides, and pages (SharePoint and Confluence) to create consistent performance and also transparency for outside groups that interact with Cybersecurity. I worked with users to generate documentation while also streamlining processes. I developed a SharePoint list used to manage corrective actions tracking their due dates, progress, and completions.One of the more interesting aspects was the use of Microsoft Excel macros to automate various processes. I created several macros that automated recurring tasks and also made them faster and more reliable. In addition to creating the macros and editing them when changes were requested, I created user documentation to facilitate additional changes that may be required after my contract was up.

I was hired as a contract writer to edit the operations procedures to accommodate a new core protection calculator that was being installed at the Waterford 3 Nuclear Power Plant. This once-in-a-lifetime design change required updating more than two dozen operating procedures and additional annunciator response procedures. The procedure changes were developed using an operational simulator on-site and vendor manuals.

In this role, I was one of a team of contractors hired to pilot a computer-based procedure program. These computer-based procedures were adaptive depending on anticipated variances in plant conditions (operating mode, train of equipment in service) and thus eliminated the need for marking large sections the procedure that would not be applicable, limiting the operators' interface to the relevant instructions.We used a software program to translate PDFs into the computer-based procedure, then made edits to ensure formatting and faithful transfer of all content. We routinely worked with the vendor to refine the software, such as identifying bugs for removal or requesting enhancements to make the procedures more usable.
