Responsible for the Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre of Neurodgeneration mass spectrometry projects and requests, and promotion of the proteomics unit at King's College London. This was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the wider researcher base and clinical programs, showcase our capabilities, and continue to develop our technologies.Key responsibilities were to:• Provide consultation to lead investigators to design projects and advise on grant proposals.• Manage and supervise projects, and train students in proteomics and bioinformatics.• Manage and assist the unit technician to complete service work and close out with formal reports.• Develop a service cost model and promote the academic service for King’s College London.Our technology developments and scientific and clinical discoveries are reported in 5 publications.

Joint Industrial-Academic position with the biotech company Proteome Sciences plc and King's College London to spearhead an ambitious Alzheimer’s disease drug target discovery program.I designed and implemented workflows for new quantitative proteomic chemistries to enable an unprecedented scale of analysis at the institute. Achievements also included developing further improvements to phosphoproteomic protocols, creating a new method for sensitive and quantitative membrane proteomics using isobaric tagging chemistries, and overseeing the design, creation and implementation of the bioinformatics protocols and tools required to analyse extensive datasets.Innovations and discoveries are reported in 4 peer-reviewed publications (as principle author), and 10 conference presentations including 4 invited talks (London, Manchester, Vienna and Zurich).

First post-doc appointment with Rainer Cramer's lab at the Ludwig Cancer Institute. This was my first foray into the nascent field of Proteomics, which had been made possible by the completion of the Human Genome Project.My work involved pioneering innovative chemical applications to enable high sensitivity biological analysis of proteins and phosphorylation. I enjoyed collaborations within the Proteomics unit, with biological research teams at the Ludwig Institute, and with chemistry teams at the University College London Chemistry department and the Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research.Innovations and discoveries from this work are reported in 2 peer-reviewed publications and a patent application, and 7 conference presentations including an invited talk at the annual American Society of Mass Spectrometry meeting.
