Senior Design - Engineering Innovation Studio
Working in a team of 4, we successfully designed and manufactured a hydraulic retrofit for the Boise State Engineering Innovations Studio's tube bender. The design process consisted of problem analysis, benchmarking, and creating specifications to influence our design and design analysis. We then created a bill of materials using our budget, ordered parts, and manufactured our design in-house using a combination of general machine shop tools as well as welding, plasma cutting lathes, and mills. The end result was a tube bender on a mobile frame with wheels, which was able to bend the thickest tube used in the shop, up to 180 degrees with little effort from the operator.
