I participated in an engaging online training program focused on computer-aided drug design through molecular docking and simulation where I delved into a variety of bioinformatics topics, including whole genome sequencing, sequence annotation, BLAST, FASTA, homology modeling, specific protein selection, and active site identification using tools like PyMOL. I also learned about the intricacies of protein and ligand preparation, gene prediction, and single nucleotide polymorphism analysis.One of the highlights of the program was conducting docking analysis and molecular simulations in a Linux environment, as well as gaining proficiency in Microsoft tools. This comprehensive training equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge to embark on a bioinformatics project. I had the opportunity to work on SNP selection by predicting genes from our own dataset of human genes.Throughout the program, I became well-acquainted with numerous databases and software applications, such as BIOVIA Draw, Chimera, Discovery Studio, PyMOL, Gaussian 09W, Mendeley Desktop, and many more. This immersive learning experience broadened my horizons in the field of bioinformatics and left me better equipped to tackle real-world research projects and challenges.
