- Advise the Director on all Institute matters relating to Research;- Facilitate growth of research activity in the Institute, including developing mechanisms and targets to achieve this; - Coordinate and plan the development of research infrastructure across the Institute;- Develop and coordinate strategies for maximizing the Institute’s success in gaining external and internal research funding;- Develop strategies to foster research collaborations within the Institute, across Schools and Chairs, and with parties external to UWED;- Interact with partners, government, professionals and the wider community on all research matters and promote Institute research activities to external stakeholders;- Represent the Institute on appropriate University committees, working parties and review teams, external meetings and events;- Work with colleagues and postgraduate students in collaborative research projects;- Conduct high quality research and publish scholarly papers.

- researching the regional issues in Central Asia and neighbouring countries, their relations with external actors- preparing scientific articles and policy papers- coordinating of the following research projects from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy 1) "Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia relations" (SEnECA), which is supported by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 programme and conducted in consortium with 11 universities, think tanks and NGOs from all Central Asian countries, Germany, France, Belgium, Poland and Latvia.2) "Capacity-building in Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asia" (COMPASS), which is supported by the Global Challenges Research Fund (organised by Research Councils UK) and conducted in consortium of academics from Universities of Kent and Cambridge (UK), ADA University (Azerbaijan), Belarus State University (Belarus), Tajik National University (Tajikistan) and University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan)- participating in the research project on preparing the monography about writing policy papers and reports

Conducting lectures and seminars on "Afghanistan in the system of international relations", "Foreign Policy Analysis", "Foreign Policy of Uzbekistan", "Theory of International Relations", "Geopolitics", "The EU in international relations", "International Negotiations", "Political Technologies" and "Public Diplomacy"

- managing research projects of the university- coordinating all research process of the university- organizing the process of preparation of doctoral candidates and independent researchers in accordance with the nomenclature of scientific specialities- developing plans for the reception of applicants, schedules for holding and passing the entrance examinations for academic degrees and titles, coordinating them with guidance, and monitors their implementation- consulting university applicants on their rights and duties, the rules and procedures for the preparation of dissertations.

- preparing the thesis on the topic "Afghan factor in the regional security of Central Asia at the beginning of the XXI century"- participating in scientific seminars, workshops, conferences- writing academic articles and policy papers on the thesis topic

- conducting research on different issues of Central Asia, Russia, CIS countries, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, India, Middle East- preparing policy papers and reports for the leadership of the Institute and different governmental bodies- monitoring media news and papers about the processes in the different regions and countries
