Project Title: Refine BAU Automation for Devops EnablementClient: Direct Line GroupProblem Statement: The project is using two different technologies for automating the client applications i.e. Selenium for Web and UFT for UIS mainframe application. This increased the design, execution and maintenance overhead leading to an increase in Regression window of each release. Also Use of UFT along with Terminal Emulator add-on inhibiting and complicating use of continuous Integration and other Dev-ops best practices for running Web & UIS test scripts.Solution :Developed a framework to automate UIS business flows using Java , HACL and JNA API to eliminate use of UFT for bring the automation of UIS application under the same technology as used for Web automation .Some of the key features of the framework developed are:1. Implemented POM model to capture screen’s fields and labels for easymaintenance.2. Built reusable utility in java to carry out automation in a similar fashion as done by UFT.3. Added features like implicit and fluent wait for screen synchronization during screen navigation4. Currently working on migration of Smoke and Regression pack from UFT to this frameworkOutcome:Successfully migrated UIS Smoke test pack to this framework from UFT. It is expected to bring 20% reduction in test execution time. Also expected to save $ 46032 annually to the client due to elimination of the license cost for UFT.
