Al Martin is the host of WKAR’s “Current Sports”, the weekly TV show and daily radio call-in program from WKAR in East Lansing, MI. Prior to joining WKAR in April 2013, Martin was a sports reporter/anchor at WLNS-TV/6 in Lansing, Michigan.After just seven months at WLNS, WKAR reached out, offering Martin an opportunity to craft and rebrand sports for the station. “Current Sports” has continued to grow by the year!The Detroit native is a 2012 graduate of the College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University. His passion for sports journalism began as a high school student when he was sports editor of his High School newspaper.Throughout his career he has covered the World Series, an NCAA men’s basketball Final Four, the Rose Bowl, countless Big Ten Championship games, and so much more. He has interviewed and covered coaches and athletes like Ervin “Magic” Johnson, Steve Smith, Kirk Cousins, Tony Dungy, and Tom Izzo.With his relaxed, warm personality, Martin has become a fixture in the state of Michigan as a sports broadcaster and reporter.
