About Alaa Ehsan
I have a variety of experiences in teaching, power industry (maintenance management), private business, as well as academic teaching and research. Over the last seven years, I have started to undertake several contract teaching positions at various international schools in Turkey, Denmark, and in Jordan, teaching Sciences and Maths, as well as private tutoring. As a mechanical maintenance engineer, I have over 6½ years of experience in power plant maintenance, focusing on gas turbine assets of a total production capacity of over 990 MW. I was involved mostly with assets management of the gas turbine units , project management for maintenance and upgrade projects, materials management for spares and tools, as well as various budgeting & cost control duties. I was leading a technical team of 10 persons. I provided direction and motivation to ensure commitment to management policy and objectives, and coaching to ensure skills development and career growth.Also, I had also been involved with materials research work for 4½ years, as an academic assistant, in the field of fracture mechanics, with experimental investigations on ductile fracture of a low alloy steel. I had co-authored several scientific articles on the topic. At mechanical engineering dept. I also assisted in academic instruction and teaching of various engineering subjects.At various intervals, I had been involved with management of the family's business; mainly invited for financial reviews, troubleshooting, and crisis management roles.
