I chose Daemen University because I wanted a chance to be a leader. Daemen’s small size has leadership opportunities that are available to the students. Also, having smaller class sizes has helped me become a more active student. I also attend Daemen to play women’s basketball. My freshman year, I came in as a data science major but soon realized it wasn't a great fit for what I wanted to do in the future. I looked into the business program and found a specialization that I was interested in. I chose business as my major because it will help me gain highly marketable knowledge and skills. This will allow me to advance my studies in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, nonprofit organizations, etc. I chose supply chain management as my specialization because I want to learn how to manage the flow of goods and services. To be specific, as humans we depend on supply chains to deliver necessities such as food and water. Knowing how this works and being able to manage shortages and surpluses in these items is what interests me the most. Now that I found the right field for me, I know that I want to pursue a career in operations and supply chain management. I am always looking for internships in the area of operations and supply chain management before graduation. The business program here at Daemen has shown me what it takes and the work that goes into becoming a businessperson. After graduation, taking all these valuable skills I developed will help me be ready for a career in supply chain management.
