During my time as an educational technology consultant, I developed my aptitude for relating various technology tools to curriculum standards and benchmarks for teachers in PK-12 classrooms across the county.I have led the charge at Western School District for adapting our science curriculum to better meet the needs of our students, including offering a variety of courses that meet NGSS expectations and overhauling existing classes to be more meaningful, rich, and relevant.On my own initiative, I incorporated the first standards-based classroom at Western High School. I am passionate about how this changed teaching and learning in my classroom. Even though I am still learning every day, I have been fortunate enough to be able to speak on the subject with several groups of teachers and at several conferences. One of my biggest strengths as a teacher is my ability to adjust instruction based on the needs of my students. As such, I have become a student of curriculum and how I can use a variety of strategies and tools to differentiate instruction.
