Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in agronomy and horticulture from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in soil science from Iowa State University. Working in agriculture throughout my life — from childhood on an irrigated farm in eastern Oregon to teaching soil science at Iowa State University to my current role as an industry agronomist. Diverse experiences helped develop skills to excel in translating scientific principles into practical solutions. Having explored other professions, deep family roots in agriculture brought me back to the people and values of my heritage. Career satisfaction comes from helping others improve performance of nutrients and cropping systems. Served on numerous regional and national committees, and as chair of multiple divisions in the American Society of Agronomy (ASA) and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). Recognized in 2023 by Fluid Fertilizer Foundation with the Werner Nelson Award; in 2022 with the Great Plains Soil Fertility Conference Leadership Award; in 2018 by SSSA with the Soil Science Industry and Professional Leadership Award; and in 2010 by ASA with the Agronomic Industry Award.
