Pertaining to Utilization Technology Development NFP (UTD), I serve as a technical advisor providing energy related R&D projects technological, strategic, and commercial feedback and guidance. UTD is a not-for-profit scientific research organization comprised of 20 natural gas distribution company members that direct a program of near-term applied research to develop, test and demonstrate safe, energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly, and cost-effective end-use technologies to benefit their 37+ million gas customers in North America, in collaboration with many partners.

Pertaining to the Department of Energy, I serve as a technical advisor on a handful of advisory committees to provide energy related projects technological, strategic, and commercial feedback and guidance.

Pertaining to the California Energy Commission, I serve as a technical advisor on a handful of advisory committees to provide energy related projects technological, strategic, and commercial feedback and guidance.

For Cleantech Open (CTO), I scout for aspiring entrepreneurs with breakthrough ideas and technologies in the field of climate tech and support them through the tools and resources offered by CTO. CTO is the largest clean technology accelerator program in the world and has trained over 3,500 entrepreneurs from 1,800 early-stage clean technology startups. CTO alumni companies have raised over $2 billion in equity.

For Caltech’s Rocket Fund, I vet new technologies and startups to find the most promising ones that align with California policy for commercial success in addition to societal benefit.

At Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), I currently initiate, develop, and manage Research, Development, Demonstration, and Deployment (RDD&D) projects for a $17 MM/yr. corporate venture fund which typically averages a 6x leverage (i.e., $102 MM) through match-funding from businesses, consortia, and other participating organizations.

During my time at the California Air Resources Board (CARB), I primary worked on emission certification and compliance related issues which ultimately led to the unraveling of Dieselgate and other similar emissions violations and scandals. Dieselgate is the largest ever criminal automotive violation in U.S. history. U.S. authorities collected at least $25 billion in fines, penalties, civil damages, and restitution.
