After completing his MBA at Liverpool University Business School, he joined the head office in Hanover Square London working with the Strategic Planning and Capital Budgeting team. Three years later he joined the management school in what is now the University of Westminster. Alan has also attended Advanced Management Programme International run by Harvard Business School. His main teaching activities have been in the areas of Corporate Strategy and Strategy Dynamics for executive programmes. His research focuses on how systems thinking and modeling interventions impact on organisational learning. In particular how a range of intervention techniques ranging from Soft Systems approaches and Scenario Thinking, to applying Strategy Dynamics models to strategic issues. He is a member of the International System Dynamics Society.Alan has been module leader of the Strategy Dynamics MBA elective in the Westminster Business School. Over his career, Alan has carried out work as a consultant and has delivered a workshop on Scenario Planning to the Airlines sector in Lagos Nigeria working with colleagues from the University of Westminster. Alan has also been a guest speaker on Scenario Planning at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev Israel. His most recent publication examines the impact of diversity on an organization’s absorptive capacity (Profiting from Diversity, 2009, Edited by Gloria Moss, Palgrave McMillan. ch. 2 ISBN 978-0-230-51616-8)In March 2016 worked with a research team sponsored by enei and led by Gloria Moss looking into 'Inclusive Leadership'. Alan David advised on the intersection between leadership and strategy.
