Wiser is an award winning smart home system, centered around a LINUX based home-hub. As the principal software engineer for the Wiser home-hub, I am continually driving to improve and modernise the software, processes and team. Lead/sole developer on numerous headline features/projects including:• Automation Engine: A configurable logic engine allowing users to automate their home system.• Power Contract Management: First additional service in the new containerised micro-service architecture. Monetizing and management of the home’s Load/Power via a MQTT bus.• Electical Vehicle Socket: Integration of a new Zigbee based electrical vehicle charging socket.• Containerised Development Environment: Implementation of a new containerised development environment using Docker, CMake and vcpkg; allowing easy upgrade/integration of new: compilers; libraries, architectures and team members.

Responsible for delivering a new BSEN62304 compliant software development process using modern and effective tools e.g. Atlassian development suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Crowd), containers (docker), compilation (CMake) and testing (GoogleTest, GoogleMock).

Responsible for the design, planning and development of the C++ framework used to enable rapid development of new protocol connectors.

As part of a move towards a cloud based solution, the source code for ‘Prophet’ (a C++ distributed actuarial modelling software package) was updated to keep up with the latest software practices.

Member of the financial pricing and risk team, responsible for the development, support and maintenance of complex multi-threaded, high volume, low latency, fault tolerant C++ pricing systems built around third party technologies, such as: CORBA, Oracle, MQ, MongoDB, RFA and Invision. Responsible for the planning, design and implementation of C++, Warning, Hedging, and Balancing servers to allow the company to analyse and manage its risks. The servers provided real-time position and exposure data, in the form of warnings, FIXML orders, and profit and loss adjustments.
