I'm an ACCA qualified accountant with an array of skills across a broad range of industries. I started my accounting life in a small practice in my home town of Crawley, ploughing my trade with 'paper bag' jobs while learning the fundamentals of audit and accounts.I moved into industry after 5 years or so taking on the accounts of a golf club in Surrey. After assisting in the sale of that club to hotel chain I moved on to FNC where I really found my niche. I learned SQL and hooked my Excel skills, picking up VBA on the way. while here I automated a lot of the transactional work and worked closely with the analysis team. After a brief, but eye opening time, at Sony DADC, I moved to ASB. Here I learned about the merits of Power BI and that you can never test enough when embarking on a major change in system.After my redundancy from Volt, where I put to work my skills in VBA and multi-national group consolidations, I find myself at Ashtons. Leading and managing a team of three, my role here is to ensure that the function of finance works smoothly and seamlessly. I had to learn quickly on the job when we lost our CFO, stepping up to fill the gap to the CEO to ensure she had the financials required, and the advice needed. all the while providing stability beneath.
