Began as agency staff member for cover during staff shortage due to illness, then offered permanent post in May 2011.Helped to set up Diploma courses that the college was just beginning to use, now mainly based teaching within the brickwork dept. on Diploma, NVQ's and City & Guilds courses up to level 2 only due to low numbers requiring level 3 at present. I am also assisting in the Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting & Decorating departments covering the core diploma units. My duties also involve co-ordinating a Maintenance Operations diploma course gaining evidence for the first units and liasing with otherstaff members to arrange the practical activities for the course. Student interviewing, attending Open evenings, Careers events and parent evenings are also included.The IV workload is divided between staff, I presently cover The City & Guilds 6217-04 course and the Btec First Diploma courses that we use. Began as a Facilitator setting up the practical task to be used on FCA and ICA courses, then progressed up to Lecturer training/assessing brickwork students mainly aged 16-18, also adult students during evening classes wishing to learn Trowel skills and get into construction.At that time there was only two teaching staff within the department, and between us we developed all of the teaching materials required to use for ICA/FCA and ACA students, then progressed to help setting up much of… Show more Began as a Facilitator setting up the practical task to be used on FCA and ICA courses, then progressed up to Lecturer training/assessing brickwork students mainly aged 16-18, also adult students during evening classes wishing to learn Trowel skills and get into construction.At that time there was only two teaching staff within the department, and between us we developed all of the teaching materials required to use for ICA/FCA and ACA students, then progressed to help setting up much of coursework required for CAA Diploma, NVQ and Btec courses.I was a course tutor for 2 of the brickwork groups, and enjoyed helping future brickwork students develope the required trade skills and knowledge to help themselved find employment within the construction industry.
