Alan is a registered architect with 40 years’ experience, and is AECOM UK &I lead architect in the Water Ports Power and Nuclear sectors. He has worked both in the UK and abroad. The last 25 years have been spent at senior managerial level. Alan has worked for both architectural and multi-disciplinary practices, and has led large multi-disciplinary, multi-company teams. He has extensive defence, nuclear and power plant experience.Alan’s nuclear power and defence clients have included Sellafield, Hitachi, Magnox, Advanced Weapons Establishment, Babcock, Cavendish, Jacobs, Rolls-Royce and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Alan also has experience in biomass and carbon capture. Alan has worked with Haringey Council, Orthios and Lateral Power on projects in this sectorAlan has 6 years’ experience working on Defence and Submarine projects in Scotland, Qatar, Faslane, Devonport, Rolls-Royce Raynesway and AWE. Alan has 8 years’ experience working on biomass and nuclear power stations projects. Alan also has experience of working on science and laboratory projects for the International Atomic Energy Agency, Sellafield Ltd, AWE Aldermaston and UCB. His responsibilities have included concept design and masterplanning, architectural and interior design; construction information and drawings; project planning and management; contract administration and site stages for larger projects. Alan’s projects include power plants, residential complexes, labs, industrial and mixed-use developments throughout the United Kingdom and abroad, ranging in value up to £350million. Alan leads a team of architects and BIM managers based in the UK Warrington office and is nuclear sector BIM champion. Alan’s software experience includes AutoCAD and ArchiCAD, Navisworks and Revit.
