• Responsible for the running of the R&D mini foundry. • The development of new alloys to be used in manufacturing.• Documentation of all safety procedures JSEA’s, SOP’s, etc.• ChemWatch administrator – management of all chemicals in the laboratory.• Scientific report writing covering various properties from chemical composition through to metallographic examination and physical testing.• Use of analysis tools such as the spectrometer, element determinisation and dilatometer.• Overseeing service and calibration checks to keep equipment working as well as precise.• The operation of a mini Argon Arc furnace to make small button sized alloy samples to a known / set composition.• Completing many Research and technical tasks reporting on outcomes.• Dealing with customer technical enquiries and research and development projects conducted in the laboratories. • Equipping and maintaining the laboratory facilities and upholding quality standards on a daily basis.• QA / QC assessments of alloys, reporting on various selection criteria with the aim to determine if the set specifications are met.• Interactions with other business units located onsite.• Exposure to foundry methods and involved in the streamlining of current production techniques liaising with purchasing, logistics.

Technical Officer In charge of Optical Micropsy Duties included • Provide the service of a comprehensive metallographic service to the Asia Pacific region, covering sample preparation through to metallographic examination and report writing.• The provision of routine and problem solving metallographic services to operational units, customer technical enquiries and research and development projects conducted at the laboratories. This included active participation in R&D projects involving significant metallographic analysis. • Liasing with operational, research and technical service groups to ensure timely and accurate investigation and reporting. • Equipping and maintaining the laboratory facilities and upholding quality standards on a daily basis.• Developing the laboratory and operations to provide state of the art metallographic services.• Interaction with other members of the team responsible for provision of analytical services such as Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, and surface analysis by techniques such as GDEOS, AES and XPS.
