Alan's current contracts include being a Broker Adviser for the Department for Education (DfE) and a Liverpool School Improvement Partner. Alan's recent contracts included working as a National Challenge Adviser (NCA) in Liverpool and Bradford, supporting and challenging schools to achieve the DfE targets, building capacity for organisations to implement quality assured processes, developing strategies for improving teaching and learning, and leadership and management training across all levels.Alan has supported a school in their successful bid to become a National Challenge Trust school and played an integral role in the writing of the School Improvement Plan and training the new Governing Body.Among Alan's skills is the ability to have the hard conversations with senior personnel whilst maintaining professional relationships and moving organisations forward. This practical experience has been augmented by research and development through his most recent Master's Degree in Process Consultancy.Alan works well as an individual and in a team as demonstrated in his work with Local Authority teams and as a Regional Adviser for National Strategies in both the North East and North West.Alan is skilled in writing bids for funding and was successful in enabling Salford Local Authority to become part of the pilot for the DfE led initiative for creating a Headteacher for a Virtual School for Looked After Children. He is also skilled in delivering Professional Development for teachers, governors and Local Authority Officers.Alan is experienced in chairing cross service meetings, developing initiatives, turning research into practice, leading management reviews and project management in the UK, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and the Middle East.Alan has experience working with the private sector, working freelance for the BBC developing projects in Salford and Cumbria.
