My current work involves providing CPD, training and coaching for individual school, groups of schools and larger organisations on dialogic teaching and oracy education. This includes programmes in the UK, in Australia and Turkey.From September 2016 to January 2019 I worked as an international literacy expert with the Education Development Trust in Brunei Darussalam. This involved supporting the Brunei Ministry of Education to plan and implement a whole system literacy and numeracy coaching programme. From April 2015-July 2016 I worked as a consultant, and specialist coach, with the National Literacy Trust's 'Gaining Momentum' programme for developing whole school literacy in Oxfordshire secondary schools. I am an Associate with CUREE (The Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education'), supporting schools in using coaching as a key component of professional learning.I am an Associate and By-Fellow with 'Oracy Cambridge' a Study Centre at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge which promotes the effective development and use of speaking and listening skills in school and working environments. Current activities include Visiting Research Fellow (Oracy) at the University of South Australia, Adelaide and lead for a three-year oracy programme in secondary schools in North East Scotland.In addition, I offer consultancy, training and support in the following areas: Language and literacy development; training and CPD; educational writing and publishing; effecting sustainable change in schools, local authorities and across systems; oracy and storytelling as catalysts for language development. I also sing tenor with The Magnificent AKs.
