Principal Engineer (Retired)
I worked in Auxiliary Systems design since joining GEC Turbine Generators in 1988, gaining substantial experience in, and eventually taking lead design responsibility for, all shaft-line systems on new fossil, CCGT and Nuclear projects through to development of control and upgrade solutions in retrofit rebuilds. With a flair for analysis of operational data and trouble-shooting I became Principal Engineer within our Power Services Sector in 2007 having previously achieved Chartered status within the IMechE.Having operated within a multi-functional operational support role for our international fleet of steam turbine generators and industrial turbo-machinery, I have recently transferred to the Steam Turbine Generator Accessories Group as Principal Engineer for Oil and Hydraulics Systems.I have presented educational talks at the IMechE Steam Turbine Users Group at Warwick University and Old Trafford on gland steam system design, lube oil system design, vacuum raising systems and the history of steam valve actuators . I have also hosted two Imagineering events on behalf of Alstom Power at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
