Over almost 50 years in practice, I have dealt with virtually every kind of legal issue in the workplace. I have represented public and private employers, employee benefit funds, fiduciaries, employees, and (many years ago) their unions. Most recently I have been focused on litigation involving modification to public employee benefit plans and representation of employers that have been assessed withdrawal liability for leaving a multiemployer pension plan. I also continue to counsel the fiduciaries, administrators, and sponsors of employee benefit plans, and to negotiate collective bargaining agreements on behalf of employers. I am a member of the bars of Wisconsin and Illinois, the Supreme Court of the United States, eight U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, and various U.S. District Courts and state and federal agencies. I continue to teach labor, employment, and employee benefits courses at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, both for the challenge and pleasure of working with young professionals, and to assure myself that I continually review all aspects of my practice.
