Receive and differentiate 911 and non-emergency calls from the public. Dispatch police patrol cars to calls for service using a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system and a radio telephone. Document and relay pertinent information to officers during routine service requests, field initiated requests (such as traffic stops), and officer emergencies (such as vehicle and foot pursuits). Run database inquiries on possible felony suspects/suspect vehicles to check criminal records and driving information.

Incident commander of the Learn to Surf Program at Venice Beach. Oversaw beach safety operations, supervised lifeguard and recreation instructor staff, lead group discussion / trainings, and provided emergency medical care. Patrolled lakes and their greater recreational areas in the City of Los Angeles.

Provided park security, performed water rescues, and provided first aid & basic life support. Protected natural resources by enforcing local regulation. Assisted with the development of a pilot surf program for underserved youth, instructed group lessons as well as adaptive learning lessons for children with disabilities.

Determined the economic potential of existing oil/gas fields in the San Joaquin Valley, CA. Evaluations of our prospects involve the organization and analysis of electrical logs, geologic maps, cross-sections, and monthly production/injection data. Our tools include CalGEM Well Finder, Petra software, Google Earth, and Microsoft Libre Office.

Determined the chronology and recurrence interval of debris flows that have occurred within the past several thousand years in the Santa Barbara region. Our methods included radiocarbon dating of charcoal samples taken from debris flow sites, and using weathering rind thickness of boulders as a proxy for the amount of time passed since their deposition.
