Supervise regional staff by assigning work, and ensuring appropriate performance standards. Provide mentoring, training, guidance, and coaching to staff. Employer policies and directives.  Interview and Counsel Clients in relation to issues presented, but not limited to benefits such as insurance, pension, leave, allowances, Occupational Health & Safety and Human Rights issues. If not appropriate to represent, refer client to other organizations, i.e., EAP, Professional Counsellor, or other Community based organizations.  Provide assistance to members in the filing of appeals for Workers’ Compensation Board, Disability Insurance claims, and discipline committees of professional licensing bodies.  Advocate for members at all levels of the grievance procedure.  Analyze, conduct jurisprudence research to establish merit of cases, make recommendation for referrals and prepare representation.  Represent members before quasi- judicial administrative tribunals, both orally and written.  Collaborate with General and outside Counsel on cases that have been appealed to the federal courts.  Participate in Inter-personal conflict mediation as well as harassment complaints.  Co-developed and delivered over 50 training sessions in an adult learning environment. As well as co-facilitated training course for supervisors and managers.  Co-chaired Union-Management Consultation and Occupational Health & Safety Committees.  Participate in Negotiations both as the principal spokesperson and Team member.

Duties Include:  Direct membership counseling, local executive support for up to 27 collective agreements. Employee relations issues between employer and member.  Negotiate collective agreements, representation of grievances, referrals to arbitration, staffing appeals, health care benefits, pension & disability claims, workers’ compensation and human rights matters.
