Supporting the alumni of the University to develop the alumni experience as well as act as a sounding board for university activity

Help to change students' lives. Managing representation, advice, governance functions to develop policy and lobbying approaches which would improve students' experiences, as well as manage messaging, public relations, press, marketing and media.

Looking back, it seems cheeky to suggest that I was in any way "General Manager" but ridiculously enough, that's what the SU constitution had me do. One of the most valuable experiences of my life, the highs were high and the lows were very low. I got to work with inspiring and committed people, who I am still grateful to.There's too much rhetoric on here that people write about being a sabbatical officer. I'll just say that I was popular, so I got elected. I tried my best to make things better for my members, I made a tonne of mistakes, was in way over my head, but muddled through and learnt a lot from my savage band of volunteers and our excellent and extrememly profficient Vice-President. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
