Design a crane capable of lifting 6.5t within a 10m range at -40°C for an arctic exploring vessel.- Source specifications from the client and supplier based on resources available to generate an initial design, quote and lead time agreed by the client.- Conduct structural analysis(FEA) and build bill of material(BOM) from initial design while communicating with suppliers to establish the longest lead time and make them priority.- Project plan revaluation with Head of company based on unplanned variables. -Design a transport skid/test bed for the crane which could be used to ease assembly.- Work with Electricians, Fabricators and production to update the initial design and complete the design of long lead time components , send the drawings to different suppliers, forward all quotes and lead times to the head of the company to discuss which route will be taken.-Build a list of sub-contractors and suppliers for the remaining components.- Design and engineer the remaining components and update the BOM depending on the suppliers chosen for the long lead items and staying within specifications, resources and skills available to meet the deadline.-Mitigate delays from suppliers by finding new solutions with shorter lead time.- Quality assess the component by completing trial fitting of crane.-Assess, devise and issue drawings to sub-contractors to correct any defects.-Inform client of delays and reevaluate deadline.-Pick up new and modified components from subcontractors and fit to crane. -Communicate with paintshop to establish the required finish of the crane and a timeframe.-Assemble crane and complete the final load test.-Ship to docks where it will be fitted to vessel.

For example: fire engines, command units or MRI trailers.)- Record any change, unknown aspects of process, bespoke work, and final product.Use the data gathered to improve and/or add components, reduce production time and/or cost.- Write a manual based on the knowledge of the unit using photos gathered during the recording process and drawings issued to production. -Gather all certificates proving compliance of the unit with regulations in one pack with the manual to go to the client.-add and record any amendments to drawings then archive all information and data about the unit to follow ISO standards.

it was my first job in engineering learning and applying the basis. Conception, assembly and fitting of mechanical and electrical components on yachts. The majority of the mechanical work consisted of building and maintaining hydraulic systems composed of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, thrusters and gearbox which may have been part of a crane, passerelle, stabilizer or even door.( the extent of its use varied)
