Highly experienced and Chartered Engineer with over 30 years in safety critical systems engineering, analysis and project management. Detailed knowledge of many aircraft, unmanned air vehicle and air traffic management systems as well as automotive, metro signalling and train control / protection systems. Controlled and implemented a variety of Safety Critical Engineering projects within aviation (military and civil), land and rail industries, in the UK and overseas, encompassing a range of roles and responsibilities, specialising in complex and high integrity systems. Provided extensive support to EUROCONTROL in the development of Single European Sky regulations, Implementing Rules and associated proposed Acceptable Means of Compliance.Currently the Director responsible for safety at Ebeni. For the past 20 years as a principal safety consultant and carried out a significant number of Safety Engineering and Safety Management roles and assignments.Led many research studies in safety, reliability and certification of next generation avionics systems for both manned and unmanned aircraft (ASTRAEA), including a 3-year pan European research project (ASCOS) into enhancing safety and certification practices, Detect And Avoid systems for UAVS, Certification of Integrated Modular Avionics, Real Time Operating systems and other COTS software. Key figure behind several risk-directed engineering approaches including: “White-Box” safety engineering, Safety requirements using Jackson, the MoD sponsored SafSec Methodology and a safety-oriented approach to Operational Risk modelling. Systems Assurance Manager for a number of signalling and train control programmes including the Jubilee Line Extension Re-signalling Project.
