I am a partner in the Property Litigation team at Knights plc, based in the Manchester office.I have specialised in the resolution of real estate disputes for nearly 30 years, dealing with litigation in the County/High Court and in the First Tier and Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber), as well as resolving disputes through mediation, negotiation and tactical advice.I advise a wide range of clients (both landlords and tenants) on all aspects of commercial property law, including contested and uncontested lease renewals under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, service charge disputes, dilapidations and alienation problems, and the enforcement of covenants / wayleaves.I have particular expertise in the telecoms sector, having acted for operators for over 20 years, dealing with the wide range of issues that regularly arise in the operation of a substantial and nationwide portfolio of rooftop and greenfield mast sites. I have n the last few years I have been heavily involved with the new Electronic Communications Code which came into force in December 2018, and have dealt with a number of high profile cases before the Upper Tribunal in relation to the Code.I have spoken regularly at the RICS Telecoms Form annual conference in London.I also act for developers, investors and local authorities, advising on issues that might arise during the acquisition of a site, completion of the development or the disposal of the end investment. Such issues include advice on the enforceability of restrictive covenants, rights to light, boundary access and title disputes.I am a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Dilapidations Forum and am a regular speaker for the RICS and other professional bodies.
