Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects up to 15% of people in the western world and is a major issue for many Kiwis. Yet, when I was diagnosed with it in 2013 (along with coeliac disease and a tree nut allergy) and advised to follow a restrictive and complex low FODMAP diet, I found almost no information, which left me feeling isolated and wondering if I would ever be healthy or enjoy food again. After starting the low FODMAP diet, I went on to create A Little Bit Yummy; a successful online healthcare platform that is revolutionising medical management of bowel related conditions and shifting IBS patient support into the telehealth world. So far I have helped thousands of people around the world better manage this complex condition through easy to understand online programmes supported by e-courses, recipes, meal planning guides, shopping tips, virtual dietitian led classes, and real life situation articles. I have the privilege of working with a team of qualified dietitians and healthcare professionals to create content that is people-focused and scientifically accurate. I also provide free low FODMAP resources via our website alittlebityummy.com to over 1.3 million visitors per year and I am the author of locally-produced The Gut Friendly Cookbook. My goal is to help people with IBS access affordable and personalised online care and reduce the burden on the healthcare system.

A Little Bit Yummy has transformed from a blog into an online healthcare platform that helps thousands of people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome access dietitian support and manage their symptoms through science based online e-courses, meal plans, low FODMAP recipes, and access to gut health dietitians. We believe in science so every recipe and resource provided by us is dietitian reviewed.
This project has allowed me to develop strong project management and leadership skills, through initiating and coordinating the planting of over 14,000 native trees to help save Lake Okoroire. This involved leading and inspiring over 320 community volunteers to engage in environmental sustainability. The project also allowed me to build my communication and negotiation skills through managing complex relationships with sponsors, landowners, councils, and volunteers. It has at times also challenged my resourcefulness and sense of humor.
My project leader position links back to my experiences at Lake Okoroire. I was given the chance to share my first hand experences at project management and teach other students the importance of networking, funding applications, event planning, and project management with a heavy emphasis on sustainability.
During my time as Marketing Executive I help Waikato Enactus transition from their old brand SIFE through changing brand perspectives on campus and helping to establish a new website. My role also involved mentoring four other marketing team members and teaching them about social media and direct marketing techniques.
