Alan S. Fujimoto, a partner at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP, was appointed Secretary General of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) at the annual conference in Kyoto, Japan, April 21-24, 2011. Mr. Fujimoto served a two-year term which ended in April 2013. He served as Chair of the Strategic Long-Term Planning Committee of the IPBA and was involved with the Constitutional Review Committee which reviewed amendments to the IPBA Constitituion. He has also served as At-Large Council Member and Chair of the Membership Committee in the past.The IPBA is an international association of business and commercial lawyers who live in, or otherwise have a strong interest in, the Asia-Pacific Region. It was established in April 1991 at an organizing conference held in Tokyo attended by more than 500 lawyers from countries within the Asia-Pacific Region. The IPBA has since grown to become a preeminent legal association in the Asia-Pacific Region, with membership drawn from throughout the world, and currently has over 1,400 members from over 65 national jurisdictions worldwide.The Secretary General is responsible for the operations of the IPBA Secretariat and oversees the IPBA’s operations on a day-to-day basis, including assisting the President of the IPBA in his or her duties and carrying out the general administration of the IPBA, managing the IPBA’s funds and its financial matters, membership issues and related matters entrusted to the Secretary General by the IPBA Council. The next annual conference of the IPBA will be held in Chicago from April 23 - 26, 2025.
