As Director of Event Operations at The CCD, I work continuously, in line with our company vision, to drive the event strategy and premium customer experience for our beautiful venue. I also have responsibility for maximising commercial opportunities.I have unique large venue operational experience and for over 10 years, I lead stadium operations and helped shape the strategic plan of Croke Park Stadium, the third largest sporting venue in Europe. In my 10 years at Croke Park, I have lead and delivered on some of the largest sporting, musical and culturally significant events to be held in Ireland and outside of Croke Park, I acted as Event Controller for the Pope’s visit to Knock in 2018.I also served on a number of national GAA committees ranging from Infrastructure, Health & Safety and Community.Sustainability is a key driver for me and I lead The CCD’s sustainability team where we developed and implemented The CCD’s first sustainability strategy. A key focus for me is looking at embedding practical applications into day-to-day operations and company strategy. This journey has allowed the organisations I have worked for, to secure many ISO accreditations and national and international industry awards across a myriad of venue operations. I was responsible for Croke Park being the first venue in the world to achieve ISO 20121, the industry standard for sustainable event management. I hold a first-class honours in both a Bachelor of Engineering (NUIG) and a Master of Business Studies (Smurfit Business School).I had the privilege of serving as a commissioned officer in the Defence Forces for over 15 years where I reached the rank of Captain. I have served in UNIFIL and as an officer in the Army Ranger Wing, Ireland’s Special Forces. Outside of work and family life, I like to keep fit and I have completed in several 140.6 and 70.3 IRONMAN events.
