My career as an academic, a parliamentary researcher, a policy analyst, a civil servant, a campaigner and a non-profit executive director has focused on supporting efforts to understand and address the governance challenges that contribute to persistent social problems, including in countries in the global south. A common strand throughout this work has been doing this in ways that are sensitive to the specificities of particular contexts, and which empower frontline actors to take the lead in addressing the challenges they face.I moved on from my most recent role with Global Integrity, a non-profit organisation based out of the Open Gov Hub in Washington D.C., at the end of 2022. Over the eight years of my tenure our strategy focused on supporting adaptive and learning-centred approaches to addressing complex challenges including corruption, the use of public resources and the delivery of public services. Now pursuing a freelance path, I am focused on strengthening the capacity of social systems and the organisations and people that bring them into being, to address complex challenges – for instance around poverty, corruption, and the use of public resources, internationally and closer to home - by catalyzing the power of collaborative learning. My plan is to combine three strands of work:- First, engaging with a portfolio of organisations and initiatives where I can make a useful contribution by supporting their efforts to operate in systemic, learning-centred and relationship-focused ways;- Second, supporting collaborative sense-making and learning around the issues I'm exploring, in and across the organisations and initiatives I'm engaged with; and- Third, sharing the evidence, insights and stories that emerge from my work, with a wider universe of actors and organisations seeking to address complex social challenges.Check out my linked in articles to see what I've been getting up to. And feel free to drop me a line. I'm always happy to connect.
