This was a short-term contract working with the Facility Manager, providing management consulting and support with special projects, including a review of staffing, education and training, development of systems and processes, sales and general management advice.

This role was responsible for the complete operation of Trinder Park, a 156 bed aged care facility, 59 unit retirement village and allied health clinic, with over 200 staff and 100 volunteers. Key responsibilities included leadership, operational oversight, establishing strategic direction, implementation of policies and business plans, financial performance, change management, regulatory compliance, marketing and promotion and engagement with internal and external stakeholders as well as the community at large.Achievements include:• Successfully developed and implemented strategies that turned the facility around from significant losses to surpluses within three years:• Successfully restructured and built a cohesive management team that was described by a corporate psychologist as “one of the highest performing teams I have ever seen”.• Developed and implemented marketing strategies that resulted in occupancy in both the retirement village and residential aged care increasing significantly.• Developed and implemented strategies that resulted in increased revenue, with government funding increasing significantly in the first year, then continuing to increase in each of the following six years.• Restructured the staffing model resulting in significant cost savings, while maintaining the quality of care and services provided.• Ensured delivery of person centred services in line with the organisation’s values.• Involved in the organisation’s participation in the Queensland State Government funded Elderly Parent Carer Innovation Trial, establishing accommodation and services for adult children with a disability, currently being cared for by ageing parents.

Leading a Christian Church, this role was responsible for all aspects of leadership and ministry, including preaching and teaching, managing a volunteer workforce, developing leaders, working with the Board and other Committees and ensuring the financial stability of the church.Achievements include:• Developed and delivered teaching to church members, resulting in personal growth for many individuals.• Successfully presented sermons on a regular basis, receiving excellent feedback from constituents concerning the content and delivery.• Worked collaboratively with the Board, set strategy for growth and managed constrained budgets.• Increased community awareness and involvement.• Provided support and services to the disadvantaged and vulnerable including the indigenous community.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role was responsible for the management of the Society’s retirement village and aged care facilities. Key responsibilities included financial performance, regulatory compliance and accreditation.Achievements include:• Achieved full accreditation of all three facilities in the first accreditation round.• Developed and presented to the Board strategic plans to ensure the future viability of the Society’s aged care facilities.• Successfully implemented the strategies endorsed by the Board, resulting in all three facilities owned by the organisation moving from loss to surplus within two years.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role was responsible for the full accounting and financial management for the organisation, including a private health insurance fund, a financial services organisation, retirement villages and aged care facilities.Achievements include:• Developed an accurate and coordinated reporting system that enabled the organisation to launch a substantial growth program that included the amalgamation of five separate friendly societies.• Successfully transitioned the financial services organisation’s reporting systems to the then new APRA regime.• Developed reporting systems for the private health insurance fund that enabled a detailed analysis of the viability of individual products.• Promoted to the position of General Manager – Aged Care.
