The Electoral Commission is responsible for the administration of parliamentary elections and referenda, and electoral enrolment services for both parliamentary and local elections.Supported the Wellington Central Returning Officer and Human Resources Manager with recruitment services and data matching capability for the 2017 General Election.Achievements• Recruited 300 staff to fill 420 roles over a two-month period from initial screening, through assessment and interviews, to selection and offers.• Developed custom reports to accurately track recruitment progress.

Formed and led a team of experts to provide asset data and network analysis skills to inform strategic direction and asset investment decisions. Responsible for four staff and a budget of over NZ$300,000.Achievements• Prepared regulatory reports that passed internal and external audits prior to board sign-off within the required timeframe.• Saved $30,000 on a meter testing programme by hosting and facilitating a workshop to identify opportunities to simplify the field work requirements.• Recruited and mentored two summer interns to produce in-depth reports on peak load forecasts, and develop critical system network models for asset management plan updates.• Saved over 20 hours per month by streamlining and automating the internal KPI data collection and analysis processes.

Subject Matter Expert for the Business Optimisation programme, responsible for developing a Gas Asset Management System.Achievements• Developed an Asset Management System that was one of the first steps towards aligning our asset management practices with the internationally recognised PAS 55:2008 specification.• Completed key sections on asset performance and asset systems for the 2011 Asset Management Plan.• Coached and mentored a Graduate Engineer towards becoming a full Performance Engineer capable of working on large projects with minimal supervision.

Actively monitor and report on the performance trends of Powerco’s gas networks, initiating investigations and analysis where performance targets are not being met.Achievements• Designed and implemented an annual network pressure monitoring program. This required the specification and purchase of equipment and software to gather the required data, developing site selection criteria, and communicating with field crews to establish safe equipment connection procedures.• Identified and enabled the quick resolution of pressure issues on the Karori pressure system.• Built network analysis models from scratch using SynerGEE Gas. These models were able to provide simulate the network from supply to each end consumer and enabled quick, efficient testing of the effect of proposed projects on network performance.

Assisting the wider Planning Team while gaining experience and skills to work on gas distribution assets.Achievements• Presented the paper Post Fabrication, Hot-dip Galvanising of Welded Assemblies in Gas Distribution Networks at the 2005 NZIGE Spring Technical Seminar.• Led the project to successfully install New Zealand’s first pre-commercial ceramic fuel cell.
