Profile bio

About Alanna Taylor

I bring over 30 years of experience in community organizing, event planning, program management, neighborhood revitalization, and grant writing. I began my career as a community organizer in Baltimore during Mayor Schmoke's administration in literacy programs and then worked in youth development programs. While enjoying a long career in real estate development, I learned how to manage housing and mixed-use revitalization projects from acquisition through construction to marketing for leasing or sales. During that time, I received post-graduate education in architecture and planning, worked as a city zoning inspector, and then established a real estate project management company in which I assisted developers in getting awarded 12 development projects and managed the projects to be compliant with financing requirements. In 2010, I left her career in real estate project management and pivoted to a new and growing remote-work occupation that was created by technology - virtual administrative assistant. By 2015, I had a client base consisting of entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, and faith-based institutions. Taking a risk of losing some clients, I decided to solely do grant writing in 2020 with added value in developing new programs and initiatives on behalf of clients. Today, I am a highly experienced grant writer and development consultant for nonprofit organizations that empower healing, restoration, and economic growth for vulnerable communities. With a 60% win rate and garnering more than one million dollars annually for non-profit organizations, I have been retained by several clients for over two years. During the writing process, I have conceptualized innovative youth development programs and economic justice initiatives on behalf of her clients. Through my lived experience with clinical depression and anxiety, I am passionate about developing initiatives that empower other Black women to create holistic healthy lifestyles and safe spaces for healing. In November 2022, I was awarded a fellowship through Open Society - Baltimore to create a healing-centered engagement model for Black women over the age of 40.

Listed skills include Writing, Social Media, Event Planning, Start Ups, and 20 others.
