Development was mainly in Core Java (J2SE 5) on Linux/Xen. Processing and analysis of large data sets was a feature of this work. Additionally, I was in charge of developing company IP, familiarised myself with a broad range of the company’s technology areas and wrote several whitepapers forming the basis of patent proposals.

A small group within 724 was building a system known as Non-Stop-Objects, using transactional technologies to provide a reliable, high performance, restartable anfd fault tolerant network of computers. My contribution was to deal with the the single point of failure that was the transactional log, by distributing multiples copies of the log and reconciling them using a quorum algorithm based on existing research. This system proved reliable and efficient.
