Attending emergency exits to ensure those attending the event may exit safely in an emergency is another crucial job role of an Event Safety Steward. Having worked as an Event Safety Steward in various venues across the United Kingdom, it is important to be extremely adaptable, the job role may change in an instant due to unforseen circumstances and the duration of the shift may change unexpectedly and as a result of this be significantly longer than first designated by scheduling staff. Having excellent communication skills and high levels of discipline in addition to being able to de-escalate a tense situation by approaching it in the correct manner is also a skill which is mandatory for the job role.
