The job role(s) of an event Safety Steward may vary depending on the event's nature, however there are many roles that are universal with all events regardless of the various types of event you may be working at. Ensuring safe entry to a venue for all permitted members of the public, acting as liaison with customers attending events to solve any problems, give directions and answer other questions they may have. Attending emergency exits to ensure those attending the event may exit safely in an emergency is another crucial job role of an Event Safety Steward. Having worked as an Event Safety Steward in various venues across the United Kingdom, it is important to be extremely adaptable, the job role may change in an instant due to unforseen circumstances and the duration of the shift may change unexpectedly and as a result of this be significantly longer than first designated by scheduling staff. Having excellent communication skills and high levels of discipline in addition to being able to de-escalate a tense situation by approaching it in the correct manner is also a skill which is mandatory for the job role. Communication with the team of staff you are working with is also something which is imperative to performing the job successfully, this will ensure that all members within the team are coordinated and are performing to a team's benefit.
