About Alan Stuart
I have been studying Oriental philosophy and practising Oriental and Eastern energy exercises and martial arts for over 30 years – specifically the arts of Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Taoist and Zen meditation. I also achieved black belt grade in Shotokan/Goju Ryu style karate. In a pretty varied life – I have been a professional musician; start-up founder; Director and Higher Education professional. For many years I was a professional Complimentary health practitioner – helping to pioneer, with my wife Joolz, the safe use of Aromatic Essential oils for safe, therapeutic use within pregnancy, labour and post-natal – working with leading natural birth professionals and hospitals. I have launched a variety of commercial natural and organic product ranges and have spent many years teaching oriental diagnosis, bodywork and acupressure in the UK and internationally.Through each phase of my life I have been drawn deeper into the study and practice of therapeutic arts and the philosophies that provide the foundation for these. They are the constant in my daily living.I am a certified Mindfulness Practitioner and Trainer and a qualified Mental Health First Responder. It is clear to me, that I appear to be, drawn to all things that start with the letter ‘m’. Music. Martial Arts. Motorbikes. Mindfulness. Meditation. Mental well-being. Messin’ about in the kitchen.SanBaoWay is the result of many years experimenting and refining combinations of techniques and exercises drawn from the range of practices that I have studied. I have consistently drawn on these through various stages of my life where challenges have arisen and where resilience and inner fortitude have been necessary for me to overcome these. In January 2021 – my life changed forever. Our son Cal, took the hardest of decisions to ‘tap out’ of this physical plain. He was 23 years old. At no stage in my life, has my reliance on the healing nature of my practices and learnings been so crucial in providing me the strength, fortitude and resilience to stay on my own life’s journey. Only by immersing myself daily in SanBaoWay practice – have I been enabled and empowered to navigate through the pain; loss and profound sadness in Cal’s passing.A journey is simply the steps we take – lightly on this Earth – with compassion; authenticity and a mindful value and engagement in all whom we encounter and the environment in which we are presently in. I continue my journey in hope that I can share some of that time with you.
