Starting as junior estimator supporting senior members of Special Risk Proposal Team and progressing over the years to senior member.Initially responsible for Special Risk Energy Tenders (Power Stations, Energy From Waste, Biomass) , progressing as Proposals Engineer for Critical Environments Projects (Data Centres) As part of my day to day duties I’m responsible for management of various cost tools utilised by our department.The role briefly consists of the following:-• Reading & understanding client’s specifications and Employer Requirements.• Defining the scope of supply• Pre-design / cost estimate for Water & foam based fire systems including sizing water supplies / underground mains • Producing technical proposals capturing offered technical and commercial solution.• Participating in Tender cost review meetings with Execution Department prior to the Tender Submittal.• Evaluating the customers’ needs / Producing ‘Value Engineered’ solutions that best fits with customer budget / programme. Produce detailed tender documents complete with standard and project specific clarifications / deviations, in order to reduce / minimise the risk to the company following contract award.• Presenting an accurate / detailed Tender Submittal to the client.• Where needed liaising with customer insurer / Fire Consultants • Evaluate risk associated with programme and installation activities.• Brief Understanding of Terms & conditions and assessing business risk such as L.D.s / programme / Consequential Loss / Limit of Liability / payment terms etc.• Attend tender clarification meetings to discuss the commercial and technical offering to the client.• Active engagement with delivery team post award to gain better understanding of project and collection of “lesson learned”
