About Albert Marin

After graduating with a degree in Technical Management I began a career working as a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems engineer. In this role, I was responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the complex control and monitoring systems used in electrical facilities. I became an expert in SCADA software, hardware, and network architecture, ensuring that critical processes were efficiently automated and that operators had real-time visibility into plant operations. As my skills and experience grew, I took on additional responsibilities related to the underlying network infrastructure that supported the SCADA systems. I configured and managed industrial ethernet switches, routers, and firewalls to create reliable and secure communication pathways between field devices, control rooms, and enterprise systems. My knowledge of industrial wireless protocols like Wifi and Bluetooth allowed me to seamlessly integrate mobile monitoring and control capabilities.Security was an ever-present concern, I developed a strong proficiency in implementing layered cybersecurity measures to protect industrial control systems from external threats and malicious actors. This included deploying authentication, access control, encryption, and anomaly detection technologies. I also trained personnel on security best practices to create a culture of vigilance. In addition to my IT/OT expertise, I maintained a keen understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems that SCADA oversees. I worked closely with electricians and technicians to troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure the safe and reliable operation of motors, drives, valves, sensors, and other field equipment. This broad technical aptitude allowed me to provide comprehensive support and solutions to industrial customers.Over the course of a decade, I developed a diverse and versatile skill set that made me an asset in the world of industrial automation and controls. My combination of SCADA, networking, security, electrical, and mechanical knowledge allowed me to tackle a wide range of challenges faced by modern industrial facilities.

At the core of my capabilities is a deep understanding of SCADA systems - the supervisory control and data acquisition platforms that form the backbone of modern industrial operations. I've designed, deployed, and maintained these complex control and monitoring systems, ensuring reliable and efficient plant-wide automation.A crucial component of that SCADA expertise is my proficiency with industrial PLC (programmable logic controller) technology. I'm highly adept at programming, configuring, and troubleshooting PLC hardware and software to seamlessly integrate field devices, sensors, and actuators with the higher-level SCADA system. My ability to interpret PLC ladder logic and other control system programming has allowed me to optimize processes and quickly resolve issues. In addition to the digital control systems, I also possess strong electrical skills from my experience as an industrial electrician. I'm well-versed in the installation and maintenance of rigid metal conduit, junction boxes, and other electrical infrastructure required in manufacturing facilities and process plants. I can size, route, and terminate high-voltage cabling and components like transformers with a keen eye for safety and code compliance.I've also gained specialized expertise in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of large-scale power transformers. I can confidently perform transformer load testing, tap changer adjustments, and other preventive and corrective maintenance to keep these critical assets in peak operating condition.Underpinning all of these technical capabilities is my ability to thoroughly read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and P&IDs. I can quickly orient myself within complex facility blueprints, identify the appropriate components and wiring, and use that information to guide my work. This strong grasp of industrial documentation is essential for efficient troubleshooting, modification, and expansion of automation systems.
