The embedded project is aimed at fostering a culture of open innovation within companies and make the most out of cross-pollination between academia and industry. As an open innovation coach, I guide and manage a multidisciplinary team of young talents who work weekly with a team of seniors from different units of a partner company to co-design innovative solutions.

Challenge Based Innovation is a 4-6 months program in which teams of researchers and university students, guided by a coach expert in open innovation processes, develop projects that solve complex societal problems, inspired by technological ideas that come from research at CERN. In CBI, student teams work with CERN, one of the world’s leading research centers in particle physics, for corporate partners, with the purpose of making disruptive innovation for societal impact.

OPER. TEN (Transform Emergency Now! - 10 days for change) is an open innovation design process aimed at developing solutions to address real challenges related to the current COVID 19 emergency. Una.TEN “Transform Emergency Now! 10 days for change” is an open innovation design process aimed at developing solutions to address real challenges in COVID19 post-emergency times.UNA.TEN is promoted by UNA Europa, involving students and professors from partner universities.

SUGAR is a global network bringing together corporate partners with students from 25 universities representing 4 continents. In this cross-international setting, students get acquainted with human-centered design tools in an environment of cross-disciplinary practice-based learning for the duration of one academic year. The global student teams prototype, test, and iterate in order to develop and implement innovative solutions to real design challenges posed by multinational corporate sponsors, facilitated by Design Thinking coaches who help them reach their goals.

The agrobiodiversity accelerator initiative is part of the Food Systems Solutions Accelerator. Since 2018, The Lexicon has assembled and led 14 such accelerators on themes that include agrobiodiversity, the circular economy of food, food is medicine, nutrition and plant-forward diets, food and climate change, and food packaging. Instead of producing white papers or policy briefs, each six-month accelerator rapidly prototypes and releases tools freely shared with the public under a Creative Commons license. BBS REACT Innovation Program was born to react to unforeseen situations and the COVID19 crisis. Within the project, the BBS community composed of Professors, Students, and Alumni, bring new ideas and solutions to companies in difficulty. A multidisciplinary team of students, guided by a coach expert in lean startup approach and open innovation, and a mentor from the Alumni network, work together to solve a concrete challenge given by SMEs in trouble.
