Profile bio

About Albert M. Thommen

My mission is to advance our knowledge of biology for the benefit of humankind. As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Crick, I lead a project investigating the complex interplay between diet, obesity and anti-cancer immunity in pre-clinical models of liver cancer. Obesity is a major risk factor for cancer and can negatively impact anti-cancer immunity. Making use of state-of-the-art in vivo experiments, I am investigating the role of pathophysiological organ cross-talk in shaping the local tumour immune environment in obesity. Efficient teamwork with fantastic colleagues at the Crick makes it all possible. I hope that these findings will one day contribute to novel therapeutic approaches. With over 10 years of experience in experimental research, I have developed a strong expertise in various model systems (in vivo and in vitro) and are proficient in the use of a wide range of molecular biology techniques. More recently, I have gained extensive expertise in metabolism research, e.g. metabolomics (in particular LC-MS).

Listed skills include Science Communication, Facs, Interdisciplinary Collaboration, Student Supervision, and 17 others.
