I have always had a passion when it came to working with computers and programming. I would watch my dad always fix my computers like it was magic and see movies with people "hacking the mainframe," and it was extraordinary. I participated in a beginner hackathon when I was in the 8th grade with college students, where we developed an app to help those in natural disasters. We had to present that very app to judges and when I saw the app that we made, I was hooked on programming and the skills that came with it. Our group all won speakers, and I loved the experience with it. I took a class in high school about computer science, I learned Java which made me even more intrigued by the field of computer science. Continuing into university here at UIC, my passion for computer science is ignited, having all these resources here that I hoped for when I participated in my first hackathon. The new languages, compilers, higher mathematics, and data structures are all the things that I hoped that I would learn. I'm still attending university, and I hope that I learn even more to pursue this passion in computer science and solve problems with the newfound skillset that I will acquire. I am grateful for the information and resources that have been provided to me.
