About Austin Cox
Austin Cox began his role as Chief of Staff for the National Championship winning UTEP Miner Basketball program in June 2022. Selected to Front Office Sports’ Rising 25 in 2019, he will assist third year head coach Joe Golding with all facets of day-to-day operations of the program while also serving as the liaison between Golding and the Miners' Athletic Administration. Additionally he will be involved with managing NIL programming for Miners Basketball.Cox arrived in El Paso after one season at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches (TX) as Director of Basketball Operations where he was part of a program that won 20 games and a share of the 2022 WAC Regular Season Championship. His move back into College Basketball was on the heels of a three year stint as an Enterprise Account Executive at Hudl-Sportscode. Based out of Hudl's Lincoln (NE) headquarters, he managed and negotiated six-figure SaaS agreements with NCAA Division I departments and programs. Hudl is an international Sports Technology company (SaaS) leading the way in the recruiting and data analytics landscape for collegiate and professional sport.Prior to Hudl-Sportscode, Cox spent four years at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg (MS). Beginning in 2015 as the Athletic Department’s Chief of Staff under Bill McGillis (Current University of San Diego Athletics Director) and Jon Gilbert (Current East Carolina University Athletics Director). His tenure with the Golden Eagles started in July of 2014 as Assistant to the Director of Athletics. Cox reported directly to the Director of Athletics his entire time at USM and was responsible for coordinating and facilitating special projects and assignments for the departments’ executive leadership team.He started his career at Texas Tech University working with the men’s basketball program, as the head student-manager under Hall of Fame Coach, Tubby Smith.Austin received his bachelors degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in Business Management & Administration.
